Eight reasons that make The Fitness Prescription a very special place:

Staff with Combined Expertise:

Our combined credentials encompass a vast array of expertise that will meet anyone’s needs.  Please visit "About Us" to review our collective credentials in detail.

Comprehensive Fitness Assessment:

A comprehensive Fitness and Postural Assessment will be performed on each client who engages our services.  This Assessment is a collection of data based on both observation and performance of your basic fitness skills and your postural alignment.  The data collected from this Assessment is then evaluated and a personalized exercise program is designed specifically for you to address both your strengths and your fitness needs.  This carefully designed program will encompass strength, endurance, agility, balance, stability, flexibility and coordination.  This Assessment is conducted by a team consisting of a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Registered Nurse.

Professional TEAM Approach:

Our fitness programs are constructed with all of your medical and physical needs incorporated within it.  We communicate directly with your physician; your physical therapist; your chiropractor; your acupuncturist; your surgeon; your massage therapist…anyone who, after you give us written permission, is involved in your care.  We work as a TEAM to give you the best possible quality of care as you exercise.

Personalized Exercise Program:

We design your personalized exercise program based on the information gathered from the Assessment.  Each exercise program consists of a basic program, or a starting point, and then as you progress with your exercise plan, the exercises are then made more challenging as you are able to perform them with the very best posture and form.  Each of the exercises we prescribe have a series of progressions that will be taught to you as you are ready to safely accommodate a higher challenge.

Functional and Machine Training:

We have both traditional machines and a vast array of “functional” exercise equipment that will challenge your balance, agility, stability, endurance, and strength.  We have pieces of equipment that no other facilities in our local vicinity have…  such as a NU-STEP; a Power Skater; a Slide Board; a Fitter; in addition to a kaleidoscope of “functional equipment” that will challenge your balance, agility, and your CORE strength and stability. These “functional” pieces of equipment will facilitate you to imitate activities of daily living in addition to mirroring various sport activities you may be involved in.  You will be supervised during all activities, whether you are doing one-on-one Personal Training, or functioning independently under our general membership.  We also have a physical therapy-type bed and a higher massage table that enables any individual to perform exercises that, in any other facility, would require them to get down on to the floor.  Depending on an individual’s mobility challenge, this feature is the difference between being able to do exercises, and not being able to do them at all.  Very few exercise facilities are sensitive enough to provide these alternate modes that enables individuals with compromises to reach their fitness goals.

2000 Square Foot Facility:

The Fitness Prescription is warm and embracing, a facility that is safe and non-intimidating.  It is as comfortable as exercising in your own living room, complete with a sofa and a fifty inch, high-definition television.

Handicap Access:

Our facility is located on the second floor of a building that is equipped with elevator and ramps for handicapped access.

We, at The Fitness Prescription, take pride in our ability to relate to individuals who have been faced with medical and/or surgical challenges, as well as those who are looking for motivation and inspiration needed to launch them into a fitness program that will enable them to achieve their fitness goals.
